Revealed: 4 Major Problems Faced by Many Nigerian Celebrity Marriages
This is an x-ray of some top celebrity marriages that have crashed in Nigeria with others facing critical challenges.
The rate at which celebrities tie and untie the knot today is quite alarming and frightening, so much that the idea of marriage scares most people. Issues definitely arise in all marriages, but the ability to manage the crisis makes the vows of the marriage worth taking. However, many Nigerian celebrities seem not to be able to manage these crises and bail at the first knock of trouble.
Celebrities like Tiwa Savage, Toke Makinwa and more recently Lilian Esoro, could not hold the centre and were helpless as things fell apart. In Tiwa Savages’ case, issues ranging from mental abuse, mistrust and theft were raised, while Cheat!ng and infidelity were the issues that led to the split in Toke Makinwa and Toyin Aimakhu’s respective marriages.
It’s been noticed that Lilian Esoro and hubby might also be on this path although reasons are not yet known. Some of the major problems faced by most celebrity marriages includes, and are not limited to;
1. Cheat!ng
The Nigerian society has confirmed that men are liable to cheat whether or not they love. In fact, there seems to be no two way about it as it is expected that an average guy, who is not even a celebrity will cheat. A woman may get married to a man with the impression that he would stop Cheat!ng because he now has her. When this doesn’t happen, a crisis begins. The home begins to shake and ultimately falls apart.
2. Neglect
Celebrities tend to totally forget about their homes and concentrate on their careers, thereby turning their spouse to a wallpaper which is only noticed when the concentration is focused. Many of them forget that every man wants his wife by his side and every woman wants her husband by her side. When there is no balance between the career and the home, the marriage is threatened.
3. Domestic Abuse
Domestic abuse has become ramP@nt in Nigeria even among celebrities. The abuse in some cases, might not even be physical as most believe. Mental and psychological abuse have been proven to be as potent in the destruction of homes, even more than physical abuse.
4. Children
Believe it or not, the arrival of children or the lack of it also causes break-ups in marriages. Women tend to shift love and attention to their kids when they start having them, in a move that makes them neglect their husbands, howbeit unknowingly. In other cases, when couples wait endlessly for kids, they also fall apart; each secretly blaming the other.
These and more are the problems that lead to marriage break ups that have become very ramP@nt in Nigeria, especially amongst celebrities.
It is one thing to marry, staying married and living happily ever after has however become a mirage.
